Robotics/Software engineering at an expoly?

Background: homeschooled international student applying independently for undergrad in September 2026

I am considering Herts among ICL, KCL, and Manchester for Robotics and SE (I want a very broad but deep knowledge in CS, especially these 2 subs). I was told Herts' Robotics teams and practicals are excellent while ICL is very theoretical. Theory bores me, but I know prestige matters to a certain degree. Herts would be a safety for me, and ICL a slight reach. (GPA 3.9)

Thoughts? I want the best uni for me with good employability outlook, and all the mixed opinions are confusing me. My mum went to a polytech in her country (for accounting) but also wants me to go to the best, will support me either way.
