A Week in the Life of a Sociology with Psychology and Data Analytics Student at City

Hi! I'm a second year student studying Sociology with Psychology and Data Analytics at City St George's, University of London. I wanted to share what a typical week looks like for me, from lectures and seminars to social time and work as a student ambassador.

My Weekly Timetable 📅
Here's a look at how my week is usually structured:

Monday
Psychology lecture
Psychology seminar

Tuesday
Gender and Society Lecture
Gender and Society Seminar

Wednesday
Quantitative Data Placement Lecture
Visualising Society Lecture

Thursday and Friday- Independent study, reading, catching up on assignments, or working student ambassador shifts.

Balancing Study & Life 🧠
Because I don't have uni every day, I get time during the week to study at my own pace. I try to stay on top of readings and assignment's early in the day so I can take the evenings off. When I'm not studying, I'm often working as a student ambassador, which is flexible and fits around my timetable. I love meeting student from other courses and being part of campus life in a more active way.

Getting involved at City 💼
One of the best things I've done at uni is join the Q-Step programme, which I found out about during my first year. After achieving a 1st in my Quantitative Methods module, I was able to add Data Analytics to my degree, and it led to a 10-day placement at an organisation where I applied real data skills in a workplace setting. It was an amazing opportunity that I wouldn't have had if I hadn't come to City.

My Tips for Students
Use your free time wisely. Even an hour between lectures can be enough to review your notes or grab lunch with friends.

Make the most of campus spaces. I love how many areas there are to study, chill, or socialise, especially since they've renovated parts of the university. 👥

Get involved! Whether it's through work, placement, or societies, the more you do, the more you gain experience, friends, and confidence. 🎯
