How your GCSE grades will affect your application to Imperial?

Hey, I am a current Year 12 Student who is planning to apply to to Imperial for mechanical engineering. I am doing 5 A-levels, such as Maths, Physics, History, Psychology, Russian. I also have an EPQ on nuclear power. My predicted grades are all A*A*A*A*A, however my GCSE grades are just a but above average. I have 9777766666. How bad it will affect my application if my gcse grades are not all 7's and 9's? Im worried that i will just get rejected anyway. Im preparing for the entrance exam to make up for my gcses grades but im not sure if it will help

Hi

From what I know, that course at Imperial don't really look at your GCSEs. I don't think they are bad enough to be an excuse to reject you on the spot. Your predicted grades are amazing, so I reckon as long as you do well enough in the entrance exam and give a strong personal statement, you will be a strong applicant. To sum it up, they don't look at GCSEs (prbly maybe in like rare tie-breaker circumstances?) and with your current achievements, I would honestly be surprised if you didn't get in...(no pressure ) I hope that's helped a bit. Good Luck!
