Work experience

Hi, I've applied to study biology, psychology and economics at a level, possibly maths instead of biology as I am still unsure whether to go down the finance route or psychology. I was wondering how I could gain work experience for both of these?

If anyone has any suggestions as to where I could get work experience/jobs/volunteering etc for psychology and economics, it would be very helpful.

Thank you

Try some online courses and watching some documentaries, this was my method as a year 10/11 to decide what field i was more interested in and also its a way to get some research around the subject early on so you can decide then work towards stuff like work experience and volunteering during sixth form when it’ll be more relevant to applications.
Springpod is good for subject tasters and virtual work experience. Unifrog has webinars on careers and subjects and also short courses and virtual work experience. The forage has virtual work experience programs. Open learn, coursera and edx have online courses on a variety of subjects so they’ll definitely be options for you. IPlayer is great for documentaries.

Its doesnt matter - it is not going to have any real impact on your A levels, Uni chances, or career.
And much depends on what is available in your local area. And its a week, just experiencing what the work of work and the adult world is like in reality.

Finance - approach the HR dept of any large local companies and ask about opportunities in their Finance dept. It doesnt need to be 'banking' or 'accountants' or whatever. Any company or large organisation.

Psychology - schools, special schools, homeless shelters, aged-care homes, or any form of front-line, customer-service role. Its about 'people'.
