laptop for graphic design

I’ll be studying Graphic Design this September at Kingston School Of Art and I was wondering if anyone could give me some good recommendations, for a laptop that would be excellent for my course and can handle a bit of light gaming on the side.

I know theres a debate on mac vs windows and I preferably like using windows and have always been a windows user but I am familiar with mac since I use it a lot at college so whatever works well is fine with me.

I’ll be using Adobe Programs and specifically After effects which is pretty demanding, so I would like a laptop that can accommodate that.
Adobe programs generally run well on Mac but if you might need to use other programs, using a Mac always carries more risk of certain software not being compatible or running poorly. I would generally recommend getting a Windows machine by preference, if only for longer-term flexibility.

Generally laptops better for gaming and design i.e. with more powerful graphics cards - tend to have lower battery life, which might be worth considering if you plan to take it to lectures etc. Asus might be worth looking at as they are common gaming laptops and have a good range of price points depending on your budget.

Thank you so much, I’ll definitely look into Asus. My budget is not too high but around £500 and yeah battery life is not deal breaker but I’ll take into consideration since I might end up taking it to lectures.
