I’ve done this too, sitting the exams this year just done both Ancient History and now doing my maths self exams self study. Main thing I’d say is do more than you think. Worry less about the narrative (although it’s still important to know it and have it memorised) but focus on reasons for why. Best thing I think is to read up lots of different sources and do extra research beyond the provided information for the self study.

Hey so ive just finished this subject and the best advice i can give is learn the sources. Perseus Digital Library -- this website has the majority of the sources on it and you can navigate directly to the section you need.
I'm not sure what modules you will be doing but this guy (41) Alcibiades Isace - YouTube -- has videos on the julio- claudian emperors, relations between greek and non greek states, and a few videos on the breakdown of the late roman republic - the overview video is especially helpful as he gives section numbers for all the relevant sources. Rome: Political System of The Late Republic -- this video is also good but its the only one he has on rome
if you end up doing the rise of macedon this website is really good Alexander the Great it is GCSE but the information is the same so its still helpful and this video playslist is also good but he dosent do a huge amount of source analysis https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6DY9psvTXR9ls3aEQckg4iu2eWS2k2Fc&si=JF_7-4SdCAPyHDhn he also has videos on the relations between greek and non greek states.
I think thats everything i used to learn it , although i would also recommend getting a couple of physical copies of the books like thucydides or plutarch because its easier to annotate and then revise.
I hope this helps!
