What to expect from my Social Work programme

I have decided to transfer from criminology to social work at Oxford Brooke’s university (I have to repeat year 1)

I wanted to see if there was anybody who is currently on or has done this programme at Oxford Brooke’s, who could provide some insight into what I can expect in regards to the work load, support ect

Thank you

Hi @chubby-potter,

We’re delighted to hear that you’ll be joining us to study Social Work at Oxford Brookes 🎉

Teaching on the Social Work course takes place face-to-face, and you can expect around 8 hours of contact time per week. In addition to this, you should plan for an overall workload of approximately 1,200 hours per academic year. Teaching usually takes place Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 6:00pm, and contact hours can include lectures, seminars, practical sessions, assessments, and academic advising. These hours may vary by year of study and will usually increase significantly during placement periods or other work-based learning.

If you'd like to hear more about the course from someone directly involved, we’d be happy to connect you with the Programme Lead, who can provide more detail and answer any questions you may have. Just drop our Admissions Team an email and we’ll arrange that for you.

Looking forward to welcoming you to Brookes! 😊

Best wishes,

Clare
