Psychology uni taster days

I do a level psych and am planning to study that in uni. I am unsure what unis i want to go to and was wondering if there are any uni taster days to see which uni I like better, and to have a experience of their courses. Preferably in London/ East England, and physical taster days, not online.
I thought these might be useful to put in personal statements as well
Any help would be appreciated, I don't know where to start finding these things
Thanks

UEA do online taster sessions, however you can speak to current psychology students at their open days and we also put on taster seminars during applicant days!

It might also be worth seeing if you are eligible for Uni Unlocked or Uni Go, which lets you stay at UEA for a few days and is completely free. It's a great way to see if you vibe with the uni and the social life there.

Personally, I found speaking to current students and actually attending uni open days so helpful. Most psychology courses are BPS accredited and follow a very similar structure in the first year, therefore speaking to students about their experience of the modules in second and third year, as well as seeing what modules are on offer, is really important, especially if you want to specialise later on. Another thing to ask about is if courses are online, in-person, or a mix of both. My psychology course was in-person and streamed online which was super helpful if I couldn't make a class.

Going to open days also gives you a vibe of the campus and what it would be like to live there. You can see where you'll live, eat, hang out, how to get to places... all really important considering you'll spend three years there!

Hope this helps a bit 😁

Hi there!

Great that you're thinking about building up your application 😊

Just for somewhere simple to start from - have you had a look on UCAS and searched for psychology courses? You can filter your search by region and see which universities offer a psychology degree, and then look at the university's website and their course page for psychology undergraduate degrees. From there you can see if they have any events coming up and potentially visit some open days, I found these really useful for exploring options, speaking to staff and students and you can maybe get some good tips for different things to attend in the local areas. A quick question can go a long way 😁

Best of luck and enjoy!

Getting experience in your PS is a good idea so why not come to our interactive Psychology subject session at our Open Day on 28th June Open Day June 2025 | The University of Buckingham. By attending we will guide you through what's important and what to look for when you attend other Open Days and Tasters. Once you know what's important to you, choosing your university will be much easier.
Good luck!

Hi there,

Great to hear you're studying A-level Psychology and considering it for university! Attending taster days is a great way to figure out which universities suit you best.

Since you're especially interested in London and East England, a great starting point is university websites. Here's a few other helpful platforms to find upcoming opportunities:

UniTasterDays lets you search by subject, region, and whether it’s online or in person https://www.unitasterdays.com/

Springpod mostly virtual, but some universities list physical events too https://www.springpod.com/subject-spotlights/search?q=Psychology

The UCAS Events page is also worth checking https://www.ucas.com/ucas-events

If you have time over the summer, enrolling in a Psychology-related MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) can be really worthwhile both for personal interest and your personal statement. Some universities even consider them in admissions and may offer reduced offers if you complete one. Platforms like Coursera, FutureLearn, and The Open University are great places to start.

Unibuddy is another great resource you can chat with current Psychology students to get a feel for the course and uni life. Our LJMU Unibuddy page is here: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate-students/chat-to-a-student

Psychology courses can vary a lot between universities. While most cover the core BPS-accredited content, others offer optional modules in areas like forensics, neuroscience, or mental health. Taster days are ideal for seeing which course structure and focus suits you best.

If you're open to travelling, LJMU's next Open Day is on Friday 20 June. You'll be able to explore the campus, attend a Psychology subject session, and meet teams including Admissions, Accommodation, Funding Advice, Study Abroad, Wellbeing and more. It’s also a great chance to ask what Admissions looks for in personal statements. Here’s the link: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate-students/undergraduate-open-days?utm_medium=301_redirect&utm_source=/opendays

Hope that helps and best of luck with your university research and applications! 🙂

Hi,

My name is Ishrat and I'm a student ambassador and a final year BSc (Hons) Psychology student at City, University of London. I'm so glad to hear that you're currently an A-level Psychology student and are planning to pursue it at a degree-level. It's ok to feel unsure on what unis to choose as it is a big decision, hence, it's important to attend Open Days so that you know which unis you are more drawn to. We have an Undergraduate Open Day coming up on the 28th June where you will get the opportunity to receive campus tours, get subject-specific talks from our Psychology lecturers and find out about the support that we offer at university to help you as you as you progress through your academic journey. You will also have the chance to speak to student ambassadors that day and get some insight into what their day-to-day looks like as a Psychology student at City, the opportunities they have and much more. If you have any questions or need some insight/advice, please don't hesitate to message me. We hope to see you there!

Here is the link to the Undergraduate Open Day:

Best wishes,
