York or Exeter

Bit of a dilemma... i cannot decide between Exeter and york! Exeter is a better location for me, it seems vibrant and is by the beach (also an hour closer travel) whereas when i visited the york east campus it seemed quite lifeless and freaked me out. Course wise- york has a full rounded course which is both practical and theory based whereas Exeter is purely theoretical which i worry i wont enjoy as much. Also York does not seem to have a prominent study programme whereas Exeter is a year abroad added. Does anyone have any advice on their own experiences of thes unis? Or the courses (Business of the creative industries- York) (Film and TV and Media and Communications FCH with study abroad Exeter)

This is the important bit to think about - not the potential for surfing.

Exeter does have a theatre oncampus and there would be practical opportunities. Why not talk to a current student?

The course says 'You will hone practical and professional skills, equipping you to work across the creative industries or anywhere requiring people who understand how communications work.' That doesn't sound theoretical to me.

Hi sash.22001,

You're doing the right thing to have a good think about which course is right for you. Interestingly, we have a bunch of students on the BA (Hons) Business of the Creative Industries programme who have written blog posts about their experience on the course - take a look at what they say.

In terms of what both our Campuses East and West can offer, student George (who also happened to study BA (Hons) Business of the Creative Industries) gives a flavour of where he likes to hang out on campus. Of course, the entire campus is home to all our students.

There's a lot going on in the Colleges at York besides your studies and students love it once they come here.

Are there any other considerations that come to mind when comparing the two programmes? We're happy to help any time!

Best wishes,

Jenni
