Childcare Grant + 15 free hours

I'm eligible for 15 free hours for my 2 year old because of being on universal credit. Can I use this and then also use the childcare grant for the remaining costs?

My nursery provider is unsure and they said I may have to choose or the other? Is there anything in writing I can show them?

Thank you

Hi there,

You can apply for this as long as you or any partner are not receiving alternative childcare (childcare element of Working Tax Credits or Universal Credit or Tax Free Childcare) from HMRC at the same time. Thanks, Jason

Hi,

I already have the 15 hours code (Free Early Education Entitlement) and the childcare grant (student finance) approved. The nursery just wasn't sure I can use both.

I don't have a partner and I don't claim any other forms of childcare funding.

So I can ask the nursery to use the free hours, then claim from my childcare grant account, then bill me for anything remaining if applicable?

Thank you

Hi there,

Yes, if the above that I mentioned isn't relevant then that would be correct. Thanks, Jason
