🎓 UCAS Extra: Your Second Chance at a University Offer

If you didn’t receive any offers or changed your mind and declined the ones you had, UCAS Extra gives you another shot at getting into university. In this post we'll lay down the basics of the scheme, highlight key dates, and provide some helpful tips.

📅 When is UCAS Extra?

26 February 4 July 2025
You can apply through Extra during this time. If you still don’t have a place after 4 July, you can use Clearing instead.

Who Can Use UCAS Extra?

You’re eligible if:

You used all five choices and didn’t get any offers.

You declined the offers you received.

Note:
If you didn’t use all five choices in your original application, you can still add more in UCAS Hub (before 30 June), as long as you haven’t accepted or been declined by any offers.

⚠️ If you decline all your offers to use Extra, you can’t go back to them later.

🎯 How Many Choices Can I Make?

You can apply to one course at a time.

If you're rejected or change your mind, you can apply to another—up until 4 July.

You must wait 21 days before changing your choice.

💡 There's no insurance choice in Extra—just one firm offer. So be sure the course is a good fit.

📝 How to Apply Through UCAS Extra

1. Find a course you're interested in.
2. Contact the university to check they’ll consider your application.
3. Apply for the course in UCAS Hub once they confirm.
4. Wait for a decision after 21 days, you can stick with your choice or apply elsewhere through Extra.

🗣 If you’re switching to a completely different course, let the university know and offer to send them an updated personal statement directly.
