Applications

I am planning on applying for Warwick and Durham. My predicted grades are A*A*B I was wondering if they well consider my offer because of the B I am predicted and I know they want pretty much only As. The subjects are Maths, Computer Science and Physics. And I am undecided between Maths, Computer Science or both as my course.

I'm guessing u are getting a B in Physics, my son was in a similar situ to you, he spoke with his Physics teacher at college explained that he needed all As to get into his preferred Uni and the teacher was very helpful, told him exactly what what he needed to work on over the summer, when he returned in September he did two past papers in class, got an A and a high B and she upped his predicted to an A.

Hi there,

Have you had a check to see if you're eligible for contextual offers with either Uni??

I've had a look and for Comp Sci at Warwick, whilst the usual offer is A*A*A, those eligible for contextual get a 'typical' offer of A*AA - they may be flexible and give you A*A*B instead? For Maths there, I'm pretty sure Further Maths is a required subject so you wouldn't be able to apply for maths at Warwick unfortunately!

The contextual offer for Durham doing Comp Sci is AAB, rather than A*AA. Their maths course also requires a Further Maths A-level too unfortunately, so Comp Sci might be your best option!

I would recommend getting in touch with their admissions team first of all and just ask if they are strict or flexible with their offers for people, as well as asking what criteria they use to determine if somebody gets a contextual offer.

Hope this helps!

You have 5 choices on UCAS. You can and should use some of those choices for something that is above your predictions if you like those universities and courses.

If you aren’t getting one rejection out of 5 then you probably aren’t being ambitious enough.

You only need 1 offer for a course and university that you like. There’s no value in 4 easy offers that you wouldn’t want to accept.
