i hope to do bio chem maths and econ
but on enrollment day, i would like to switch econ to further maths because i dont plan on keeping econ
i want to study medicine and i think further maths would benefit me more as if i do end up dropping fm at least it wldnt go to waste and would help me with alevel maths

May I have your opinion? If I want to study medicine, which school you recommend? Brampton, LAE, NCS and HWSF?

Any recommendations?

I can't really give you a recommendation on the other six forms other than LAE because I haven't done enough research into them. This was because I live quite far so LAE was like the maximum I was willing to go.
I went to the open evening at LAE Stratford and it was amazing. They have a MDV society which supports everyone's applications. They offer support for the UCAT.
But not only that, you need to consider other factors. Remember you are going to be going to your chosen sixth form for 2 years. You don't want to be in a place where you dread going. For me, when I visited LAE it had the perfect combination of academia and social life.

I cant speak on behalf of the other places so hopefully someone from the other amazing sixth forms can offer you advice.
Good luck!

Hey!!
I’m not really a student at any of these schools, but I did apply to all of them and get it. But essentially, I rejected HWSF as it just didn’t feel like it was for me. I had some friends there and they didn’t like their experiences, also the open evening and the interview just didn’t fit my vibe. I’m waiting for my taster days to see what school I’ll be choosing next September.

From what I have heard and seen, NCS is really good when it comes to the sciences, but don’t rule out LAE or Brampton. I think it’s each to their own. All schools have their own traits, and you should pick the one that fits you best.

Personally I’d say don’t base your decisions on academics only. As someone mentioned before, also take in other facts like distance, extracurriculars, social life. Remember these are 2 years of your life, the 2 last years of your teenage years as well, so go somewhere you know you’ll thrive as well as you’ll enjoy.

I’m assuming you’re in Y10, or even Y11 it doesn’t matter, just focus on getting those 8s and 9s and you’ll be fine when it comes to applications. Enjoy now and I’m sure you’ll get a future you’re content with

I entered in my predicted grades based of my year 11 mocks. These were checked with my referee ( a teacher at my skl ) to make sure that I wasn't lying and they can make comments about you as an individual.

hello! my predicted was 7x 9, 1x 8, and 1 x 7 and my achieved was 8x 9 and 1x8
my 8 and my 7 were in the two subjects im taking at alevel, (history for politics and english literature) so i truly think it depends on the oversubscription/popularity of your course xx

my predicted was one nine and seven 8s (top 8 aps 8.1) and my achieved was 99988877 (also top 8 aps 8.1) and i got in for maths econ politics and philosophy

I would say if you have a lot of 9s and 8s then u shld be fine. It’s getting much more competitive so ensure your getting predicted 9s in the subjects ur applying. They also contextualise offers. So if your on FSM, In care etc then your more likely to get in.
