How realistic is it to up my preds?

I'm in Y12, and got A*BC in my mocks (forgot to do one of the sections in my exam hence the C). My current preds from that are AAA. I was wondering how likely is it that I could push for A*A*A or even A*A*A* by the end of the school year?
Thanks

Do you have more mocks prior to submitting your UCAS?

You defo can if you put in the effort ! - My best advice will be to do really well on all your tests to prove to your teachers that you are capable of getting A*

Do some past papers and see which topics you struggle with and start from there by watching videos, taking notes if it helps, making and using flashcards and doing topic questions in those topics, then do some more past papers to see if you have improved - repeat this process as you learn more topics and progress to Y13 - you can repeat past papers too!

Good luck!

You can use your mocks to improve by looking at where you made mistakes and then working to improve on those mistake, so yes it is possible if you put the effort in :gthumb:

I study biology and psychology (year 13) so if you have any subject-specific questions I'd be happy to answer the best I can

I do AQA. Yeah absolutely loving it but the mark schemes are...questionable. It does feel like I'm just trying to memorise what the examiners want a lot of the time. Do you have any tips for the questions where you have to apply your knowledge? I've got a great visual memory so memorising content is easy but those are the questions a really struggle with

Yeah ive heard aqa markschemes are evil, not that ocr (my exam board) seem to have much nicer ones 😒 I think practice questions are the best way to go, and make sure you know all the working scientifically content definitions. Im the same tbh.

Y13 bio and chem (AQA) here. Something I wish I did was the physicsandmathstutor topic questions after each lesson. To push for top grades, I'm not the best person to ask, but just do as many questions as you can, over and over. Even the application ones you can't memorise, with so much exposure you'll start to recognise the patterns of what examiners are looking for - and use examiner's reports, you'll see what they're looking for and the mistakes/traps that students commonly fall for. For content, Miss Estruch on YouTube for bio, Elliot Rintoul for chem.

It’s depends how your school grades predicteds. Mine asked me what I wanted to have for each subject, and then they looked if it was realistic. I know other places are strict on just what your mocks were with little leniency.

Can you tell me which grade was for each subject? I think it’s probably possible but would be helpful to know which subjects you want to improve and which one you’re already pretty solid for.

Yeah of course. The A* was in chem, the B was in bio (I was 2 marks off an A though) and the C was in psych

Improve in those and hopefully your official predicted grades will also go up.

Then yes I think it’s 100% possible. Chem is known to be the hardest of the three (I mean depends on the person but generally that’s what it’s like), so the fact that chem is your best is positive. Bio is quite easy to pick up on and the more past papers you do the more you learn about the specific wording needed. I don’t tan psych but from what I can tell it’s a lot of memorising, so if you do lots of active recall, papers, and just revise consistently you should be fine!
