How to structure aqa a level sociology essays
10 marker, 30 then 20 and 10

Hello, I recommend a youtuber called THETEACHERSOCIOLOGY because she goes through how to answer each of these questions in detail.

I can give you a quick overview on how I tend to structure these questions though:
10 markers: 2 developed points and I try to include a sociologist/theory for each point.
20 markers: intro and conclusion, 3-5 points (depending on how developed they are) with evaluation throughout
30 markers: intro and conclusion, 5-6 points with evaluation throughout

Hope this gave you an idea on how to answer these questions! I really do recommend THETEACHERSOCIOLOGY though because her exam tips outline what you need to do to get in the top bands of essays

this is a screenshot of the structure I always use, there are different ways in how to use it. With an item, always start with "as Item A/as the item states..." before the "X says..." to prevent losing marks.
For 10 markers it's up to you whether you evaluate "However..." or just go into more detail about your points, obviously as the question will typically state its 2 points.
For 20 markers, you don't have to use the item. They are typically 4 points (not including intro and conclusion which should match, some examiners will just read these and skim the middle) and remember don't juxtapose your evaluation (make the evaluation/criticism link to your point)
For 30 markers, it's the exact same with 20 markers except it'll be 5 points.

I believe the typical timings is 15 minutes every 10 marks

Yes they're timings but with 4 and 6 markers combined you won't use 15 minutes.
