Best tips for morning of exam and breakfast ideas for concentration and brain power.

What has worked for me:

Decent amount of carbs but not refined sugars

Practice question for 15 or so minutes to warm up the brain first thing in the morning (especially if you're not a morning person)

Last minute overview of revision notes (up to a minute) - not look at entire textbooks

Getting to the exam hall 15 minutes early

Wear comfortable clothes

Don't drink too much water - just enough. You don't want to go on toilet breaks every 5 minutes

Focus on the exam ahead and not try to do anything else. You can socialise, but don't try to focus on other things such as watching a Netflix series or reading a very intensive book.

One thing that you might want to try: draw out a mind map of the material that you should know of the exam in 5 minutes then see what you missed out.

I'd recommend drinking a lot the moment you wake up, and then not much for the rest of the morning (water passes through the body in around 40mins-1h so just be mindful not to drink too much in this time before the exam starts).

Hi there!

Everyone has their own exam morning routine, but this is what I found works for me.

A good breakfast, which includes some long-lasting carbs, such as porridge or a bagel. This will help you to not feel super drained throughout the day as these carbs will get slowly released.

I always have mine with a coffee to give me a bit of a caffeine boost to get me going for the day. If you have a bit of a break before your exam starts, I’d also have a quick snack like a cereal bar just so you don’t going to the exam hungry as these exams can last quite a long time.

I always take a bottle of water into my exams, especially as most exams are in summer and it can get really warm.

However, whatever works for you will be the best thing , just never try a new breakfast on exam day!😂

You’ve done all the hard work now and I would do my best to have a relaxed morning on days of exams. I might sometimes read over some content passively just to get my brain in the right headspace. However, I do know that I will never learn new content on the morning of an exam, so I try not to stress too much about this.

Good luck with everything and I hope it all goes well for you.

Hey there 😃

Before the big day, make sure to get a good night’s sleep 💤 Rest is essential for your brain to perform at its best. Set your alarm early enough so you’re not rushing in the morning and have time to ease into the day.

Don't skip breakfast, as it fuels your brain! Try to include some brain-boosting foods like berries, citrus fruits, dark chocolate, nuts, eggs, avocado, or salmon if that’s your thing.

If you enjoy movement, a short and gentle morning workout, like stretching or yoga, can help wake up your body and mind. Personally, I always make time for a quick meditation session before an exam. It calms my nerves, clears my thoughts, and helps me focus deeply when the test starts 🧠

And if you can, leave yourself a bit of time in the morning for a light final revision, just enough to refresh your memory without overwhelming yourself.

Good luck with your exams! 🤗

I hope it will be helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Hi @Gfdgjvvdduu,

For the morning of your exam, honestly the best thing you can do is keep everything as calm and stress-free as possible. Wake up with plenty of time so you’re not rushing around, there’s nothing worse than starting the day in a panic. Try not to do any last-minute cramming, especially if it’s just going to make you feel more anxious. A quick glance over your notes is fine if it helps you feel more prepared, but don’t overdo it. Trust the work you’ve already put in. Make sure you’ve got everything packed the night before: pens, ID, calculator, water bottle, whatever you need. It just makes the morning smoother.

As for breakfast, go for something that gives you slow-release energy and actually keeps you full. Porridge with banana and a bit of peanut butter is a great shout, or toast with eggs and maybe some avocado if you’ve got time. If you prefer something lighter, a smoothie with oats, banana and berries works well too. Avoid anything greasy or too sugary because it’ll just make you feel sluggish later. Also, don’t overdo the caffeine if you’re not used to it, it can make you more jittery than focused.

Main thing is to stay calm, eat well, and give yourself a little time to breathe before heading in. You've done the work, now just show what you know.

Rooting for you!
