Poetry Help - Edexcel English Literature A Level

Poetry - what structure should I use and any tips?

I would use PETAL paragraphs:

P: Point
E: Evidence - Quotations
T: Technique - Literacy devices, etc.
A: Analysis - One-word analysis for top bands)
L: Link - Link back to the question and point.

Please elaborate more, so I can help you even more.

Good luck with your exams! 💌

I'd use PROFIT.

Intro and first line of each para - argument should be set out. Make a point in the first sentence, as well as compare/contrast. It must be a theme or idea about the poem, not a technique used.

Every opening line of a para needs to be a comparative point about both poems.

P - point of view - who is speaking? What's being told?

R - rhythm and rhyme + anything that affects how the poem sounds.

O - overall message. Starting point, introduction.

F - form and structure - how it looks on the page.

I - imagery - contrast, metaphors, simile, etc.

T - tone and title.

This is not an order, just a checklist. Hope this helps!
