How active is your uni's Residential Team?

Hey everyone!

Heard from a friend that some uni residence teams organise awesome activities like kayaking, archery tag, and regular events to help residents connect (she studied at QMUL). It got me wondering how different unis handle residence life.

Does your uni dorm have a residence team that organises events or activities? How active are they, and has it made a difference to your experience?

I’m trying to get a better sense of what kind of accommodation I might want based on how much support/residence engagement is offered.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi @superj

From my experience, the halls of residence team at Kingston (where I study) has organised quite a few activities and hangout events for the students, especially during the first weeks of university and around holidays and special days (Valentine's day, Christmas, etc.). In the months where there aren't any holiday, they still organised activities such as Sip & Paint nights, Vision Board night, movie nights, study sessions. They made sure to provide drinks, snacks, and sometimes a slice of pizza.
My experience with the ResLife Team was great, they always try to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere. They, themselves, are students as well, and therefore also have their own course to focus on, but when they can, they put in a lot of effort to make students feel at home.

I hope this helps 🙂
