Can you open more than 1 Student Bank Accounts for their perks?

I was wondering if there's any reason in particular not to open several student bank accountsfor their advantages?? The bank im currently using offers 100 pounds when switching to a student account and I think it was Santander that offered a railcard that would be very useful. I was wondering if you're allowed and is there any reason not to??

Hi EclipseZ,

Yes you can open more than one student bank account. I know lots of banks offer great joining offers, especially in freshers week. This can be great for a little extra spending money, I did the same in freshers 😀

However, be mindful that if you open lots of accounts and never use them this could you leave you vulnerable to scammers. Scammers often target inactive accounts. So, if you open an account to get a nice joining offer but after a while end up not using it, then make sure to remember to close the account.

Hope this help,

Tilly.

Yes and no.

Many student bank accounts state in their terms and conditions for opening and holding an account that you cannot hold/open more than one student bank account.

If they find out, they have grounds to close the account.

The smart thing to do is open the account, get the perks and then close the account once you've gotten all you need from it. Do the account you actually want to keep last.
