TMUA prep

I’m looking to apply to BSc MORSE at Warwick and some other courses that encourage or require TMUA.

If I plan on taking the October sitting when should I start revising? I have no clue where to start and I’m feeling worried as I looked at a paper and struggled greatly. How should I revise for this and how often?

Any help would be amazing!

Hi there, I took the tmua last year and received an offer for MORSE from Warwick.

Firstly, if you want advice as to when you should start, it goes without a doubt the earlier you start, the better. R2Drew2 is an excellent resource for the TMUA, would greatly recommend all of his videos, he goes into tips for the TMUA, and has hundreds of hours on the TMUA, watching all the explanation videos would be a must from me, especially if you are initially struggling.

Secondly, you should not be too worried, I started revision 2-3 days before, and I was not particularly strong at maths at the time as I was not focused on a maths related degree and was more focused on economics, taking it mostly for Cambridge. I kinda flopped it and got a 4.3 but it was enough for a Cambridge interview and a morse offer, so regardless if the score is quite low, anything above a 4 would probably be enough for morse. MORSE gives out loads of offers, I think it was about a 80% offer rate or something on the same line, just attached with high requirements. If you get 5.0 or high you get a reduced offer, but as I didn't get that, they simply gave me an offer of A*A*A*A (A*A in maths and FM), or A*A*A* (With A*A* in maths and FM)

for applying to morse, as long as you take further maths and have high predicted, you should be fine as long as you do okay in the TMUA.

so basically start revising as soon as possible but don't worry yourself too much, especially if you are applying Cambridge or LSE, don't leave it last minute like me and good luck!

i would get a good start on it sooner rather than later for the October sitting. Taking it then means you'll be an early applicant in all likelihood and if you're then prepping for an Oxbridge exam/interview come Autumn you wont want to add all of this on top too. TMUA changed up a little for this last round and i'd say some of the practice papers weren't as 'up to the moment' for the newest round. At least now you'd have this last round of papers to look back on which i think will be very helpful as apparently it was harder than other years. I'd also say to look at some of the papers sat for Oxford like the MAT exam (something i wish i'd known for my Son as he only looked at past TMUA papers available on sites like Pearson) as paper 1 on TMUA this round I've heard was a lot more like an Oxford MAT (others may correct me and i'm just a lowly parent ha ha)... but i'd love others to be prepared as they can be. ALSO.... if it's to be a test centre again (this was the first time at the test centre this year) note things like asking for more boards to write on, and please practice writing on BOARDS and not just paper....as my Son really disliked writing on the boards and ran out of boards and had rubbed out some workings out he'd have liked to refer back to.

He still did well, but he felt frustrated at the end for some of the above reasons.

I sincerely hope this is of help to you 👍️

Just do every single paper out there, there are even papers made by people if you run out of the official ones. Then watch R2Drew2 for any question you don’t understand. Since you started early, you should be able to get though everything. I got a 5.4 and got a reduced offer from Warwick
