Medical decleration for distance learning

Hi. Due to a distance learning course I am taking this is distance learning due to my disability. I have been told to get the maintenance loan element I need to get my doctor to fill in a medical declaration.

But I have been told it can take months for my doctor to fill this out I can’t wait that long as I will lose my offer from university.

I do have a letter from my gp on letter headed stating that my disability prevents me from attending an in person university. Would that be acceptable?

Hi Olivier,

We would require that form completed by them in order to assess you for the maintenance loan. You can still, in the meantime, apply for the rest of your funding and be assessed for the tuition fees. Thanks, Jason

Did the GP advise you on when they'd be able to complete the form? Thanks, Jason

The gp said they couldn’t gaurentee it but I have a letter already off them stating why I can’t attend in person only online. Would that not be ok. Along with a personal cover letter from myself aligning with it.

Hi, all new students are required to supply the Medical Declaration form for to allow for the review for the Maintenance Loan element This needs to be fully completed by the student and a qualified medical professional who is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK. Thanks, Stephen.

Hi Oliver, I did the Medical Declaration Form for the current year. The doctor signing it doesn't need to be a GP, just a doctor that is registered with the GMC in the UK. Therefore, if you have contact with or are under any other clinics or doctors you could request them to sign it. Most doctors in the UK will be registered with the GMC. The doctor who signed my form wasn't a GP but was a doctor I saw for some of my disabilities. It could be worth trying and asking a non-GP doctor who you have seen recently to sign the form. Good luck!
