wjec as biology unit 1 May 12th 2025

Thoughts?

i was not a fan at all, I didn’t really understand what the 9 marker wanted me to say so i waffled about transcription😭 defo did not do great, hopefully grade boundaries are low

Didn't do the exam today (did last year) but most people I know resisting said it was worse then last year that the questions were vague and apparently the microscope image was blurry? I feel as though wjec bios questions are getting more mysterious each year lol

omg yes i’m in year 13 rn and resat last year and it was x10 worse this year Im just honestly praying the grade boundaries are on the floor and the microscope was so bad i wanted to cry😭😭

yeah defo i agree!! the microscope was quite difficult to read and quite blurry, this might be the part of the exam that not many people got right, i was not confident in my answer for that part !

wjec make mistakes in their papers sometimes hopefully the blurry image is brought up in the examiners meeting and markers are made aware of it! - what was the image of out of interest?

im sure you did fine the benefit of resists are the knowledge you at least have some marks in the bag, im honestly worried for unit 3 and 4 now the content is so much harder so if the questions are as evil as they were today we are all doomed ahah

I remember they made a mistake in the unit 2 biol paper last year so yes hopefully it’s brought up because i’ve never seen an image like that before in there😭 it was of an animal cell but it was genuinely just a blob of black and grey

Image was so bad omd, it was nuclear pores and envelope and like ribsomes right

i went straight to the nine marker then turned straight back to the start after reading 'genetic information flows from DNA to RNA'. i also waffled about transcription though and most people i know did, so i think that's right (and if not loads of people didn't get it)
