I think on that one all you had to do was square (a+bi) and make it equal to 7+24i or whatever they said z was

I wasn’t a huge fan of the spinner question or the last 4 marker of the paper, but apart from that I didn’t think it was too bad.

Yeah it was an odd one, i set up the table with profits and did probability of getting 8(2 lots of 4n4) then the same for p(x=6) -> (3,3. 3,3. 4,2, 2,4) and then p of getting ones and then completing table, idk of tha makes sense😂😂 but chances are, i probs dont got it

For the spinner question, I ended up with every probability being 'something/16' with possible profits being £-3, £0, £7 and another between 0 and 7, 5 perhaps? I know a few other strong candidates had the same result

now i feel stupid i finished the rest of the paper in an hour i literally had half an hour to figure it out and but i realised i was thinking of it as if you spin the spinners separately, instead of at the same time so yeah no wonder i messed up 🤦*♀️

Any thoughts on the mechanics? Feel like its been a kind year on FM AS

Reply 17

as a person who hates mechanics and doesn’t understand it at all, i think it was okay except the banked track question(tbf my teacher never taught us it 🙄) and one about distance between vectors, you should thank me as i will absolutely be lowering the grade boundaries

I thought it was a really nice paper compared to previous years, hopefully unit 4,5, and 6 are just as nice.
