Will my essay be marked if I didn't signal which question I answered?

Took Edexcel iGCSE english literature today and the exam went well, except that I forgot to put a cross in the box signifying that I was answering a question on Of Mice and Men. That question is 40 marks and I answered it in full- I'm just worried that they sort the questions using a machine which reads the crosses, and that mine will be considered 'unanswered' or that they will give 0 because I didn't follow the instructions, something like that. I have emailed my school's exam lead, but he hasn't responded. I'm really worried about this, since I'm predicted a 9 but if I get 0 on this question I cannot get higher than a 7. Please help!
