Guys . How are we feeling about this paper … currently scared that they are going to pull out some like statistical testing or something. Cause I find the maths in the textiles papers hard ://

I feel like industrial tests might come up because that hadn’t in a few years . CAM/CAD related questions always come up . But I’m really hoping for sustainability and the 6Rs or fashion cycles to be honest . Cause that seems to be the only thing I fully understand—- šŸ§šŸ§šŸ§šŸ§

Hopefully it’s not histograms or anything to do with cumulative frequency because there’s been weird questions about them, I would be so happy if it was a bar chart question.

Yesss. That would be so nice . Cause oml the maths questions on the paper 1 2021 was evil . Coming to this chat straight after I’ve sat the paper tomorrow (no one else in my sixth form does this subject so I have no one to talk to lol )

How important do you think the structure of your answers is, I feel like the content was ok but i structured them terribly, no proper introduction or anything

Reply 7

my structure was so bad and dude i thought underlining was interlining and the one question of the skirt got me wtf and then the how does textile product designed to be thermally insulated i started talking about finishes

Yeh i couldn’t think of much to say about underlining, the skirt I talked about printing but that felt wrong, I talked about quilting, brushing and choice of fibre for the thermally insulated one but I didn’t really get what they were asking for with the give examples of fashion and internal textiles

Can anyone remember what the analyse and evaluate questions were?

The example that I used was a blanket for the interior one and the fashion one I just put a coat .

There was that one difficult one about like New generational lyocells sustainability compared to cotton and that one the use of social media for fashion branding . But that’s all I can seem to remember. There was the one fibre content question for erm like the jacket

Real . Because what is underlining . Also that like Terry towell or whatever one was evil and threw me off at the start - like ??? That’s not even in the spec šŸ˜”
Hello, I moved your thread to the "Design and Technology exams" subforum for you.

Thankyou!! I’m kinda concerned I didn’t really put many disadvantages especially for the lyocell one lol

The table at the start threw me off ——? Like. I knew modern and smart materials but not the ones in the table šŸ§šŸ§ I fear I did put ramine or something in a box (idek what that is)

It’s such a tiny part of the revision guide I can’t believe they included it, it’s mentioned under uncut loop pile weaves, I barely remembered any of it’s properties tho so I think I just wrote about it being slow drying
Underlining is also a tiny part, it’s used to give shape without stiffening the fabric but I couldn’t really figure out what else to say about it

The smaller questions I can remember are :

•

The health and safety for workers

•

The social concerns for like workers of offshore production and natural fibres.

•

Quilting

•

Labelling fancy yarns ?!?! (Which I did not know šŸ’”)

I think i put photochromic dyes and the performance something fabric for smart and then micro and nano fibres for modern, I couldn’t remember if micro fibres were modern so that stressed me out
