Cambridge MPhil social life

Just wondering, who will I interact with the most outside of contact hours during my time in Cambridge (1 year MPhil)? My college mates or course mates? Or others I may have met before (like people from the same country)?

Any experiences from alumni/current students welcome!

Was wondering the same thing. I assume that my universe at cambridge will not be limited to my college placement but I would love to hear from others about this .I also wonder how important my college placement will be in terms of my MPhil experience

I too was wondering about this. Given that the course looks like a really intense 9 months would I get to interact with a circle wider than my coursemates? Not that I don’t want to interact with them as I’m excited to meet others interested in the same stuff I am, but I was wondering about how it is for most people.

Both.

Cambridge is one of the unique institutions where there are full and thriving communities within departments and colleges, so you can socialise with either or both groups.

Depending on their choice, some people choose to socialise more with their course mates while others prefer colleges. For example, if you play sports, then you would likely spend a lot of social time with your college teams or university teams.
