Edexcel AS Level Physics Paper 1 - 14th May 2025 [Exam Chat]

The invigilators told me that everyone had trouble trying to finish the exam. Not that it was too hard, but the paper was lengthy and had 'odd' questions.

How was it for you, guys?

I also had trouble finishing it. I skipped the resistivity 5 marker, and the 2 moments questions then when I finished everything else I had about an hour left for those 3 alone and I somehow still didn't finish the resistivity question and on the moments question I didn't manage to get the forces. Now that i'm home, I replicated the moment forces question and found the answers. So i've possibly dropped 15 marks guaranteed when it should've got the answer to the moments question realistically 😕

Did you figure out how to do the resistivity question? I’m still confused as to what you were supposed to do

Nope, I didn't even get to attempt to write anything. And I don't remember what the exact info was, I just remember something about 0.5W h or something, so I can't attempt it again. I think we may have had to use info from the previous parts since it was part (iii) or something.

It was actually so hard, I did every question, the only one I got probably wrong is the angle question, cause didn't have time to think about it i just speed run it. And the increase in temperature for LDR i guess or smth

damn well done, I envy you. The exam nerves got to me and i'm worried I didn't do as well as I could've because I may have made silly errors & now I might not get the A I was hoping for. Hopefully i'll be more composed for paper 2 😂. Good luck to you for paper 2.

Thanks man, I'm also on the margin for A or B

You should've find m cubed using 0.05w i don't remember how, but then just times by resistivity and u get like 89% which is almost the same as 90%.

Ahh I think I understand, thank you for explaining

Do you know where to find the paper? Like just questions?

nope, it won't be released until 2 years time & I haven't seen any discussions other than this one so I doubt it's been posted by others.

yo I think I know what we had to do, it gives us the power and tells us to assume that the current is 22A or whatever, so I think we needed to use P=I^2 R to get R and then use the resistivity equation to get the areas for the different wires. Then you'd have to find the volume which is the area x the length which is tells us is 1.00m for both wires. And then probably compare the cost

yeah that makes sense, that was such a twisted and wordy question. Like I was tryna compare the values in the resistivity equation and tryna connect them with power in some way but nothing was working 😭

paper 2 we need a serious comeback

bro same, I'm actually so ****ed off with how I did because it's actually an alright question and i've dropped so many marks because of silly **** 🤦*♂️. Paper 2 is indeed the comeback 😂.

do you know the questions per chance
