track record with cambridge accepting people a few marks off?

I'm predicted A*A*A and got a place for Modern and Medieval Languages (French w Russian ab initio) at Cambridge (which I need a*aa for) but an a* for French (which is required for me) is like 90% and in all my mocks I've never got closer than a few marks short, plus for me it's hinging on my weakest area, speaking, which I've done but feel ambivalent about. About a month ago my college sent out an email saying that they would maybe offer a place if you were a few marks off the grades you needed, provided you told them. Maybe is better than not happening, but if anyone has been in the position where you nearly got the grades and had to contact Cambridge, did it go well?

9999998877 with 9s in the subjects i'm taking (french and russian)(though im taking ab initio russian so it doesnt matter as much)

Hey this is the course I'm applying for rn too! Which languages have you applied for? I just started a post for all the MML 2026 applicants so we have somewhere to talk lol. I'm applying for French and Spanish and Murray Edwards :smile:
