University of Gloucestershire (UoG) or Oxford Brookes Swindon? September 2025

Hi all,

I have had offers from both universities, only universities I applied to. I am a mature student who has a childcare to take into account when choosing the right uni. I live 30min from Oxford Brookes while UoG is 1h10min away. However UoG is offering a blended learning course, still full time, bulk of the lectures taking place online and having to go into campus about 2 weeks in a term for practical/clinical skills. Anyone done this as a mature student, study with UoG's blended adult learning course? Or anyone who has done adult nursing/currently a student in adult nursing course, can advise which would be the better pick out of the two when taking into account childcare, travelling to and for for lectures everyday or taking them online whilst being a mature student?
Will be very grateful for the advice as I need to make my choices soon.
Thanks!

You also need to look at placement locations and timings for both unis. Could you manage UoG's placements if they are not in Gloucester and several days in a row, night shifts, etc.?

Hi,
Placement locations wise, UoG told me during the interview that it will be 90minutes from my address, not from the University's location. With Oxford Brookes Swindon, I will have attend
in-classroom lectures at half 9 in the morning, UoG's start online at 9:15.
I know either is going to be tough but I just wanted to see if maybe taking lectures at home will mean I do not have to worry about commuting everyday to uni. I really don't know as I am so stuck😩 trying to factor in so many scenarios and which would work well for me as a parent.
