Hi! 😊

Congrats on your offer to study at Royal Holloway that’s exciting!

The teaching tends to be in small groups, so there’s a good amount of individual attention, and the campus is beautiful and close-knit.

If you're looking to hear directly from students who’ve done the Foundation Year or undergrad courses, I’d recommend checking out their chat platform you can talk to current students and ask them anything about their experience.

Also, feel free to message here if you’ve got questions I’ll help where I can, and maybe someone who’s done the course will see this too! 😊

Wishing you all the best with your next steps!

Best wishes,
Royal Holloway, University of London Rep

yeah okay I mean the academics are kind of what you would think they would be! if you've done the a-level subject, some of the content is going off of that. there is obviously new content and whatnot and it is really interesting! there are different types of assessments and stuff too like open book, online, essays and just regular exams and stuff!

I live in founders (the castle). My experience was okay, not really up to my expectations but it was ok. The catered aspect of it wasn't something I really enjoyed as I like cooking my own food as founders 'pantry' (what they call the kitchen) has 3 mini fridges, 2 microwaves and a kettle between 40 people. I did really enjoy how good it was though with like how many people you can meet and etc (easy way to make a ton of friends, which is what I did!)

student life in general - there's loads of different societies, im in one related to my course and one other more catered to my interests! there'll definitely be a society that meets ur interests!!!! there's also lots of events every week and there's a club on campus and a pub (the packhorse) too! the annoying thing Is that Egham is like a little village tbh. the nearest clubs r windsor or Kingston or further into London.
if ur not really the clubbing/drinking type (which is perfectly ok), then there are also loads of other events that don't include those activities!!

soz this like half makes sense im half asleep lol

Very late to the thread but if your still here I'm also a biology student who just finished their foundation year. I found the student life to be very good especially as someone who typically struggles to make friends. As the person above said before don't live in founders, it's not great. That being said I absolutely loved my accommodation in gowar so its just mostly founders to avoid if you can. The lecturers in biology are very friendly and helpful, the course is very similar to a-level but you get to learn how to do coursework like essays and you do get to do some new stuff. I've found society's to be welcoming and fun but there not a lot to do if you don't like society tbh egham is tiny. And staines is kinda mid. Personally I've really enjoyed my time so far but go for what's best for you.

I personally dont know anyone who was in Williamson but afaik its very similar to gowar, so it should be good. As for classes can i ask for clarification on what you want to know about the classes?
