Special consideration

I have a bad fever but also doing my A Level exams at the same time. I can’t revise, eat, sleep or do my exams properly because of how ill I feel. Can i get special consideration, extra time, rest breaks, or even be put in a separate room while im sick? My next exam is Monday and I won’t be any better by then. I’be been aiming to get three A stars but at this rate i’ll be lucky if I even pass.

Hey! Talk to or email your course teachers and see if you can get special consideration or your exam moved to a different date. Also, if you can, try to get a doctors note as evidence that you are ill in case the exam board inquires.

Hope you get well soon and ace your exams!! You got this!!

Thank you so much! I’ve read that to get special consideration I can only tell my school on the day of the exam, so that they can submit the form after the exam. I’m trying to get a doctor’s note today, but is it best to wait to tell my school on Monday?

I would probably recommed letting them know ASAP that you don't think you're going to be well enough and then also telling them on the day. That way you avoid being caught out if they try to claim you've become ill 'out of nowhere' to get out of exams, but it's also up to you. If you do choose to email in advance, explain your situation, link in the doctors note if you can (if it's physical take a picture of it, if it hasn't come in time tell them you'll show them on Monday) and ask your teacher(s) what would happen if you're still too ill to sit the exam on the day. Some schools do things differently to what the internet might say, depending on exam boards etc, and that way you have written confirmation.
