Hi there,

what is the exact title of this course? Most uni's will accept BTEC's or A-levels. As long as it is accepted by the uni's you are interested in, (accepted as an alternative qualification), then you can look into Biology potentially. What industry are you interested in?

it sounds like you are trying to get a job/get on a uni course without biology, chemistry, physics or math A-Levels - are you trying to choose between a BTEC (your medical science thing) or A-Levels in Biology, chemistry, physics and maths? is this correct?

Please provide more info and I will be more than happy to help!

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)

Good morning,

you should be able to enter university with a BTEC. For example, a BTEC Extended Diploma in an appropriate science subject with grades DMM - DDM allows you to get into Biological Sciences here at Kingston. A GCSE in Mathematics at grade C/4 or above is also required.

While A-levels allow you to keep your options open, BTECs are in one specific area of interest. So you must keep that in mind.

Regarding the degree you choose, ensure the degree in accredited by a professional body - this is vital for some careers.

The course you choose is dependent on the career you are interested in. So, my next question to you, is what careers are you interested in? Do you like lab work, or would you prefer a job without lab work?

Hope this helps!

BTEC Extended Certificate is the equivalent of one A level.

You might be able to do an apprenticeship with this - Search apprenticeship Find an apprenticeship GOV.UK - but it is not enough for admission to University.
