y12 predicted grade stress!!

hiii, i’m a y12 student who has just done their mocks which go towards predicted grades. i’m feeling okay about 2 subjects (since the exams didn’t feel as though they went terrible and my class grades are not bad in those subjects), however english literature is another story…i get on average Bs and Cs in class when we do assessments and i have absolutely no idea how i did in the mock (although i’m not feeling confident haha). the problem is all of the unis i want to go to require at least AAA for predicted grades (and also my college won’t let us apply for Oxbridge if our predicted grades are lower than AAA), i feel as though that’s doable for my other 2 subjects (touch wood!! 😓😓) although i’m so nervous that i’ll be predicted lower than an A in english since my previous assessment was a C my question to you is do you have any advice for what I could do to increase my predicted grade for english from now…

thank you for reading all this and please give any advice!! (waiting for my predicted grades and mock results are really stressing me out if you can’t already tell 😭😭😭)

All you can do is wait for your predicted grades to be decided.. Just remember that even if these are low, you can work your socks off in Y13 and get far better grades - if you want this badly enough.

And btw, your school cannot 'stop' you applying to any University. They would be right that ABB predictions would make an Oxbridge unrealistic, but thats still your choice not theirs.

I'd recommend to talk to your teachers to ask what you can do to raise predicted grades. At my sixth form, you could get them raised in September if you showed your teachers evidence that you've been doing lots of practise and revision during the summer, to show you're committed to improving the grade. I wouldn't stress too much though. You still haven't got your grades back, and some teachers tend to make your predicted grades higher than you're current average grade as they're anticipating that you'll improve.Good luck
