Nursing Second Degree Wales / England

Hi,
I already have a first degree and am thinking of studying nursing. I live in Wales but some of the universities close to where I live are in England. Would I be eligible for loans to cover the tuition if I live in Wales but plan to study in England?
Thanks!

Providing you didn't do a nursing degree course previously then you are able to apply for the NHS learning bursary and any loans that are available.

If you living in England and you are applying to a university in another part of the UK ( Wales or Scotland) then NHS England should pay your fees etc but make sure you ask them about it okay so you know what is what. It is the same if you living in Wales but want to study in either England or Scotland say.

You will only receive funding for a second degree if you study in Wales and apply for the NHS Wales Bursary. According to the SFW website:

If you opt-out of the NHS Bursary or study a healthcare course outside of Wales, your application for student finance will be assessed under the previous study rules.

Taking the NHS Wales Bursary means you are committed to working in NHS Wales for two years following graduation.

NHS England doesn't pay any tuition fees. Students from England have to apply to SFE as normal but they can also apply to the NHS LSF for additional funds if they also study in England. Student Finance Wales applies different rules.
