Pff2 form

Hi,

My parents need to fill out a pff2 form for my student finance, however they moved abroad in July 2023 and I have been living independently since then.

1.The pff2 form is asking for income details from the tax year 2023-2024 but we don’t know if this include the tax year in Poland as their tax year runs from 1st jan 2023-31st December 2023?

2.They still have a national insurance number which is fine, but we don’t know how to fill the form out as it asks if they got any income from overseas? Which they did as they moved overseas, but they also lived in the uk for 3 months of that tax year?

If someone could please advise asap it would be very much appreciated as it is very very stressful.

Thankyou!

Hi there. To assess you as an independent student, you would need to be able to provide evidence to show you have been supporting yourself financially for 3 years total prior to the start of your Academic Year. Before we explain the PFF2/Parents abroad process, can you please advise if you have been supporting yourself for 3 years total prior to your course starting? Thanks, David

I have been supporting myself since August 2023. Previously I lived with my parents. I started renting in April 2024, and was living with family friends from August 23 till April 24.

Hi there, we would be requiring 36 months (3 years, does not need to be consecutive) of self supporting evidence for to be awarded independent status if you are not aged 25 or over at the start of the 1st day of the 1st academic year of your course. If the PFf2 form is required to be completed, we would require the PFf2 form from both parents with copies of their tax year income for the requested year, This evidence can be submitted in Polish, but a translated copy can also be provided if applicable with the PFF2 form. Thanks, Stephen.

How do I get the translated version of this? We’re really struggling with this form, how do we fill it out because they got taxed from April to July in uk and then started work in Poland from August that year? So one is in pounds and one is in złoty?

Hi again, we would require that your parents complete the PFF2 form providing their UK national insurance numbers (NINO) , and then also complete the overseas income section with the Polish tax year income information. The NINO can be used to check the income with HMRC within the UK, while the Overseas income can be completed with a copy of the tax year records from both sponsors with the PFF2 itself. Once received, this is currently taking an estimated 12 working days for review. Thanks, Stephen.
