How do students relate with each other

Hi there! At university, there are quite a few different ways to get to know people! Some of these include:

1.

Societies. Societies are interest-based clubs that meet up often, some examples from my university include the psychology society, knit n' natter, and the debating society. If you join a society that you are interested in, you'll be able to meet people with similar interests!

2.

Sports! Universities have all kind of sports clubs, at my university you can play every sport either casually or professionally (competitions, etc.). This is also a great way to try something new, and make friends along the way!

3.

Through your course. During your course, you might people in workshops or seminars, through group projects, from sitting by each other in lectures, and more!

4.

By chance. You might meet people who are friends of friends, or at random events, when you least expect it!

Hopefully, this helps a little! Are you looking to go to university this year?

How do students relate with each other

Hi @ngumzie254,

Thank you for your message here. There are many ways students relate to each other. Being a recent graduate, let me give you some of my insight into this topic.

The course- Being on a course with people who also chose the subject and have a similar interest to you, is a good way to relate to your course mates. During lessons, you may do group tasks/workshops, trips and go on lunches or breaks with your course mates. It's a great way to get yourself out there and make friends.

Societies- These are another way to meet like minded students with similar interests. There are activities you can engage in and events to attend.

Other events- Universities and students union often do events throughout the year. Which are another way to meet likeminded people but also new students who you may have not met otherwise.

Community groups- Most universities have groups for accommodation and schools, where you can ask questions, meet people online and more. Often, students also create groups on snapchat or WhatsApp to communicate about the course work and help each other.

Hope this helps, ^Zac 🙂

How do students relate with each other

Hi there!

I would echo what others have said - societies are a great way of meeting likeminded people who enjoy similar things to you!

Here are some other ways that I have met people and found people I get on with:

Though your halls. You will meet people in your accommodation that you get on well with and you may well be similar to! Of course this is mostly down to luck, but you will still meet some great people!

Your course. You will have a similar interest with everyone on your course so you will find common interests with all of these people! Try and engage with them in lessons, and ask people if they want to go out after lectures - for a coffee, lunch or even just to the library when you have assignments!

Through events. Often the SU will put events on where you can meet new people and make friends this way! It is always worth going and having a look!

On social media. There are often groups on here where you can meet similar people and make some new friends so it is worth joining some!

I hope some of these help!

How do students relate with each other

Hi @ngumzie254

I completely agree with everything that the replies to your question have mentioned, especially societies and the course itself. These are the best ways to meet and socialise with other students, particularly the students that have very similar interests to you!

Other things I can think of where students relate are clubs and events outside of uni itself. These can be very useful. I play 5-aside Football which has allowed me to build good friendships with people not just from my uni but different unis too. There is also the possibility of meeting new people whether that's just someone there or even someone from the team you are playing against. It doesn't have to be Football, it can be any club or event outside of university.

My best advice would be to just put yourself out there as much as possible and you will find that you end up meeting and relating to lots of new people along the way!

Good luck with everything, let me know if you have any other questions, I am more than happy to help!

Thanks, Matt 🙂

How do students relate with each other

Hi there,

There are so many ways for students to relate to each other, as illustrated from each of these great responses!

I met my close friends in my accommodation and through other friends, and people usually find out what they have in common by starting up a conversation. You may live close to one another, take the same course, have similar interests, play the same sport, or quite literally anything else.

It can be easier said than done, so I'd recommend just putting yourself out there as much as you can. Find out what you are interested in participating in, and try to make small talk. It doesn't have to be anything crazy, you could even just ask how their day is going, what their name is, and what they study.

Best of luck! 🙂
