Deferred uni exams

Hi,

I am a first year law student. I’ve recently deferred 4 law exams to the summer reassessment period due to mental health reasons. I’m quite nervous as this is basically my only chance to pass the exams and it’s my first time sitting a university level exam. Does anyone have any sort of tips for balancing deferred exams without compromising my mental health, as well as still being able to enjoy my summer to the fullest?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi there!

My number one tip to get through exam season would be to spread out your revision. I like to divide my week up, having a few days of revising, and then a few days off, so that when I'm revising, I have something to look forward to! For example, my week might look something like this...

Monday - Revise for exam 1 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, relax in the evening.

Tuesday - Revise for exam 3 in the morning, 4 in the afternoon, and relax in the evening.

Wednesday - Day off! Maybe make plans for a day out

Thursday - Study date with friends, with a coffee date in the middle!

...And you get the idea! I made the mistake of trying to study 24/7 during first year and burnt out incredibly quick, and wish I'd figured out what works for me sooner! This might not work for you, you might divide your time up differently, but make sure you make some time for breaks and enjoying the sun
