Advice for in-person interviews?

Never had one before so I don't know what they're going to be like. Any tips are appreciated (what to wear, how to act, how to impress them, etc.) Thanks!

Hi @JoeChill,

Your first interview can feel daunting, but with a bit of preparation hopefully I can help you feel a lot more confident.

What to Wear: Go smart and neat. For most in-person interviews (especially academic, job, or internship ones), a smart-casual to business-casual outfit is ideal. Make sure whatever you wear is clean, fits well, and you feel comfortable in it.
How to Act: Be polite and professional with everyone you meet, including receptionists or other students. They may be asked for impressions. Listen carefully to questions and don’t be afraid to pause and take your time before answering. If you don’t understand a question, ask for clarification rather than guessing, also maintaining eye contact is super important!

In general I would say, do your homework: know what you're interviewing for. Have a few key points ready on why you want this opportunity and what makes you a good fit. Think of 2–3 personal experiences that show your skills, resilience, teamwork, etc. Ask a question or two at the end, it shows you're engaged. Something like “What do you enjoy most about working/studying here?” or “What does success look like in this role/course?”

Rooting for you!
