converting to christianity.

i have always felt different and off around my family whenever they spoke about religion and the fact they’re atheists. i dont know if this sounds silly but i always feel a sort of pull towards christianity and god, i’ve identified as agnostic to people but i never feel complete. i’ve sinned and i know i have and i would like to improve and seek help for my struggles too. i shared to my mum about this and how i would like to convert and start going to church and giving my life to the heavenly father if she could just support and help me how to do this. instead she insulted me and told me that would be stupid. if anyone could please give me some help, i would still like to convert but i am struggling on how to do so the first steps and if i will be accepted into a church.

Hello @w1tchesrave

I am a fellow Christian myself and have found that Christianity can lead to so many great opportunities and friendships, the community is really amazing. I believe that even if there is no God (which is not my belief) that it is still a valuable opportunity as you meet people from all different backgrounds and generations. There are a few things you can do to 'convert' to Christianity. Firstly, you could start reading the Bible, particularly the book of John as this is a good introduction into being a Christian, although reading the bible is not a requirement. You could also start prayin if this is not something you do already, this could simply be taking a moment out of your day to be grateful for everything you have in life, prayer does not have to be overly formal and can ultimately take many different shapes.

The one difficult area may be finding a good denomination but that very much depends on where you live. If you are able to I would suggest you try different places but if this isn't an option the Church of England is a good starting point. You basically just need to walk into any church and you will be welcomed wherever you go and there will be people who will want to get to know you and make you feel part of the community. After a while, if you still feel that you want to officially become a Christian you can look at getting baptised but this is not a decision you should rush into.

I hope this helps, if you have any further questions or anything at all please do let me know as I would be more than happy to help.

Your mum's way has not worked for you.
Has she tried true Christianity?
If so, why call you stupid to also want to be open minded and try?

Enough about her. You are certainly welcome to visit the church I'm in.
We just want to be faithful to Jesus who will return to sort out planet Earth, along with those that have been faithful to what he set up.
His church began as detailed in Acts chapter 2 and spread to non-Jews in Acts 10.

Just visit once!

I wish you the best with your journey, and remember it is yours and special that noone else can seperate you from your relationship with God as you progress with your faith. You are doing this for you and not anyone else in your family right now. May be others might follow you in the future, who knows.

I would get a copy of the Bible if you don't and read the Gospels and Genesis and Exodus to get some understanding of the nature of God. Start praying to God with the Our Father may be which is found in Matthew 5. Jesus said this is a good way for Christians to pray to God who knows our every need. Ask for direction from God also may be about your journey.Have a look around at may be the Church's in your area and see what appeals to you. You could go onto get Baptised with the Holy Spirit which will help you with your journey with your faith.

You sound quite young, may be you are not. Perhaps this Young Christians magazine may appeal to you. I used to read it in the past. They have been going for decades. Some of the stories of back issues as well may help you as well.

Also, this website is a really good website with information for people new to Christanity in particular.
