Second degree SFE funding for Physiotherapy degree (Allied Health Profession)

Hi all,

I am hoping you can help me!

I am a graduate, I previously graduated with a first-class Sound Engineering & Production undergraduate degree.

In total I have received 4 years worth of SFE loans (tuition and maintenance loans), as I did a year at a separate University before graduating from the 3 year Sound Engineering degree.

Now, I have developed a new major passion for Physiotherapy since graduating, largely due to a personal journey that I have been on with it. I want to go back to University to study Physiotherapy and eventually open my own practise.

I was under the assumption that I could not, as I have already received 4 years of funding from SFE. Yet I have recently read that SFE may give funding for second degrees in certain Allied Health Professions, Physiotherapy is one of these courses (from what I have read).

Questions:
I wanted to check please, does this funding I have read about cover tuition fees AND maintenance loans?

Is there a limit on the number of years of tuition AND maintenance loans I can receive for a second degree in Physiotherapy? I.e. 3 years, or 4 if possible.

Would I just have to apply to student finance England as normal after receiving course offers? Or are there any extra steps?

Thankyou very much for reading over my query! It a twisting pathway to navigate but I will find a way to become a chartered Physiotherapist!

Many thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,

What is the name of the university and course so we can double check and confirm eligibility? You would be funded for all years of the course if it's an exception course (regardless if it's 3 or 4 years). Thanks, Jason

Thanks. Physiotherapy is an exception course as long as you're not already registered in the field. Thanks, Jason

Sorry. I saw you've since responded. As long as it's a pre reg course and you're not already registered in the field you're looking to apply for then you should be fine for the funding. If it's for a 25/26 application you can go ahead now and apply online for the funding. Thanks, Jason
