An iPad is great for the first week of uni, but with having so many deadlines and lectures talking really quick it’s best to get a laptop/MacBook just so you can type really quickly and focus on getting stuff done rather than making things look pretty. And (imo) a laptop is better to organise and have multiple tabs open which is defo needed at uni!

if you can afford it you could get a laptop that you can fold and write on like the lenovo yoga - best of both worlds! i do bio chem maths and i have an ipad and a laptop, but i found myself using the ipad way more because it saved me having to print out hundreds of pages of questions/past papers.

another ‘best of both worlds’ method is to get an ipad and a bluetooth keyboard case along with it so you can use it like a laptop if you wanted to. obviously typing on a real laptop is a nicer experience but it’s not too bad.

Hii! I’m going for vet med and I’ve got an IPad since December of year 13 and honestly it’s the best decision I’ve made (or at least I think so!) It’s really great to save papers because you don’t have to print materials most of the time or any past papers and it helps with motivation for revision and it’s also great for blurting because I often use it as a whiteboard. Many people talk about typing quickly but I also bought a keyboard case so I can essentially use it like a laptop as well! In terms of vet med/med some revision will include annotating things like anatomy so an iPad might be helpful for that. The only downside is the cost since it’ll be a sum of the IPad, pencil and case (if you choose to get one). You can always choose to go for Samsung or other brands as opposed to apple.
Hope this helps!

I got an ipad for sixth form and its been super useful - for diagrams in chemistry and rough working in maths to history mind maps. a laptop you're restricted and cannot draw, and an ipad you can get a keyboard case for. did set me back about 1.2k back in 2022, but id so get the 2022 12.9 inch with a keyboard and apple pen which is what i have right now because its sooooo useful and big. lowkey heavy but yeah.

any sheets i get given in class ive literally just scanned in on the notes app and wrote on in there, and i can do papers on pdfs instead of using all my printer pages. i have a laptop too, but i find ive never brought it into school because its more cumbersome and less durable, i swear ive thrown my ipad far too many times. I would definitely get a 12.9 inch and nothing smaller though because its more like an a4 page than the little a5 ish ones.

My entire family usually buys HP, and have nothing but problems with them. Their customer service is pretty poor as well

Thats why I'd recommend researching thoroughly before making a purchase especially if you buy a laptop at the £1000 mark - i went for an Asus zenbook s 14 (top spec) and it's been very good so far, but I scoured over the Internet for reviews for it first
