Chem question help please

Hi, please could I have help with question 1c of this paper?

I’m confused why 10cm^3 is being used as the volume? Shouldn’t the volume be 100cm^3 as that is what the solution is being made to and then 10 is being extracted from that? Surely the number of moles for both should be the same anyways?

Although 100 cm^3 of the sodium hydroxide solution is prepared, only 10 cm^3 of it is added to the conical flask with the methyl benzoate in it (see step 3). The other 90 cm^3 (which, mind you contains most of the sodium hydroxide that was used in the first place) isn’t used.

As such, you only need the moles of sodium hydroxide in 10 cm^3 of the solution and the number of moles of sodium hydroxide in the 10 cm^3 portion is not the same as the number of moles of sodium hydroxide in the 100 cm^3.
