Law firms are not as 'which Uni' obsessed as many people assume.
Most now recruit 'Uni blind', and RG means nothing significant.
Work your socks off, do lots of interesting things at Uni, get a First and aim high.

Hey! 😊

Congrats on your offer to study Law at Royal Holloway - that's a brilliant achievement 🎉

Totally get your concerns about it not being a Russell Group uni, but I just want to reassure you: Royal Holloway has a really strong reputation in the legal world, and lots of students have gone on to secure vacation schemes and training contracts, even with top firms.

Here are some reasons to feel confident about Royal Holloway:

🌟 Strong Reputation & History

It’s part of the University of London, which carries weight with many employers - especially internationally.

The Law department is well respected, with modules taught by leading academics and real-world practitioners.

⚖️ Employability Support

Royal Holloway offers tailored career support for law students - including workshops on vac scheme applications, mock interviews, and commercial awareness sessions.

The Careers & Employability Service works closely with law firms and invites guest speakers from top firms to campus.

🧑🎓 Alumni Success

Plenty of RHUL grads have gone on to Magic Circle, Silver Circle, and top international firms - success is 100% possible if you put the work in.

Some former students even contribute to platforms like The Corporate Law Academy, sharing tips and guidance.

🌍 Campus & Community

The campus is stunning (one of the most beautiful in the UK!) and the student experience is really personal and supportive.

There's a strong Law Society that runs events, mooting, networking opportunities, and links with firms - great for building your CV early.

At the end of the day, what matters most is you - your grades, your initiative, and how you present yourself. Coming from a non-RG uni doesn’t close doors, especially if you’re focused, commercial-aware, and make smart choices during uni.

Hope that helps - best of luck with your law journey!
