Just so you know, most of the ‘highest-earning jobs’ you get from economics earn that much because of the contribution you are expected to put in - easily 60-80 hours a week at investment banking/consulting firms etc., as well as those industries being extremely competitive, so you need to weigh that up if you’re really in it just for the money.
How much you like/are interested in a subject can definitely affect performance in my opinion. Uni is a lot more intensive than sixth form - not only are you cutting down to just one thing for all your lectures and seminars but you’re expected to go into the subject in a lot of detail on your own, do a lot of intensive assignments on it etc. so it would be so so easy to get burnt out and not do well if it’s not something you are 100% sure on. Please do some research into the subject to make sure it’s something you could at least see yourself being interested in, read a couple of books etc., and make sure you wouldn’t prefer to do something like Finance, Business studies etc. as if not there would be other lucrative career paths out there with different degree pathways that you would probably attain better on.
