New Uni student

Just applied to study journalism at Uni. I applied to Oxford Brookes, Exeter, Queen Mary and King’s College London Universities. Anyone else studying journalism this 2025 academic year, at any of these Unis?

Probs a house share, hopefully with other students. I may have to go private for accommodation, with student loans, being a late applicant. What about you?

Not sure, I’d rather halls but we are late applicants. But I can commute and wait to move in after people have dropped out

Yeah, halls would be ideal. I wish I could commute but from Oxford KCL is far. Plus, I feel I'd miss the social side of Uni.
For KCL I applied to study digital media and culture. What about you?

History BA, hopefully hear back soon but sadly they take a long time to get back i heard. Oxford is defo too far to commute! I dont mind missing freshers since been there done that but would like to get halls before second term.

Nice, I did history in an As level and a diploma! Have you been to uni before for a different undergraduate degree then?

Yeah bt i left before. out of your choices which one do u want to go to the most if u got all offers?

Ah okay. Queen Mary's comparative literature degree sounds really interesting. Though if I get my insurance choice, Brookes for journalism, I'd be happy with that too. What are all of your choices?

Hi,
I hope you’re well! Great to hear you’ve applied for Journalism at Oxford Brookes. I'm currently a student here and I can say the School of Arts and Humanities is super supportive, and the journalism course is really hands-on. You’ll get to develop skills in digital media, news writing, and even podcasting and broadcasting using professional equipment.

The campus in Oxford is also a brilliant place to study, with modern facilities, loads of green space, and a creative atmosphere with loads of opportunities for collaboration. Plus, the uni has great links to the industry, which is perfect for work experience and networking.

I definitely recommend coming to an Offer Holder Day. This gives a real feel for what studying here is like. Let me know if you have any questions about student life or the course, happy to help! 😊
