how do I know how long the first year of my course is?

Hi, I'm trying to apply for student accommodation for September, but I'm not sure how long a contract to choose? There are two options, depending on when your course ends, but I can't find it anywhere, and the term dates aren't on the website yet. I also haven't received a confirmation email from the university that I'm on the course, but I have from UCAS, and I received the criminal conviction declarations email. The course is game design and development at Coventry university

If I was to take a guess the two contracts most universities offer at 39 to 41 weeks (which covers term time and the Christmas & Easter holidays) or 51/52 weeks for the entire year. Term time is roughly 30 to 32 weeks to my understanding.

If you know you're looking to take on part time work or internships over the summer during near your university for example, then I would suggest the 51/52 week contract otherwise a 39 to 41 week one should be fine

Just phone Coventry and ask them what length contact you need.

Hi there,
You only need the 39 (not 41) weeks one for any university owned student accommodation due to your course not having any mandatory work placements (typically seen in healthcare/medicine courses). However if you go into non-university accommodation then a 52 week lease may be offered which could be helpful if you plan on finding a job or work placement over the summer. If you are a September 2025 intake your first year will run from Sep 2025 to approximately Easter 2026.
Hope this helps
