I loved french A level. I got an A overall but was averaging at an A* and now do French at uni. I got a 9 at gcse but even at an 8 if you have a passion for the language you'll do really well.

i totally regret not doing french a level, and i know a few people that do it and love it. my friend said it’s a challenge, as most a levels are, but nothing comparable to subjects like chemistry and maths (all of which she does). she also said a lot of the work is self-contained, so you’re not overwhelmed with homework!

I got a 9 at GCSE but very nearly an 8, I'm currently in ear 12 and would say it's one of my favourite A-Levels. However, there is a lot of self-study for Speaking Practice and Literature (AQA Exam); but it's a really good subject and if you're passionate about it, you should definitely pick it! Overall, it isn't too difficult but you just need to memorise many different structures and vocab; so with an 8 you should be fine to get an above average grade - if you put the work in.

Hiya!

Just to give you another quick opinion, I chose French as my fun A-Level and I enjoyed it so much! If you keep up with your grammar and vocab (apps such as Quizlet or Memrise are great for this), and practice regularly, then you can absolutely do well with this A-Level.

If you enjoy it, then go for it. I found it such a rewarding A-Level to do, and enjoyed it even more at A-Level than GCSE. If you're getting 8s then you're clearly very capable and if you love the subject then you're very likely to do well 🙂

Languages are also respected subjects which shows you have a range of different skills, and go particularly well with degrees in business and economics.

I hope this helps and best of luck!
