A-Level options

I placed my A-level options as History, Sociology and Philosophy, Theology and Ethics (not my original choices but the time table of what the school will be running meant I had to repick and do Sociology) and I'm just wondering how others have found these subjects for A-level?
Before anyone says anything, I'm aware I've chosen three essay subjects, but the rest of the subjects being run are either science and maths based, or require me to have a specific GCSE which I have not done.
I'm looking forward to PTE, and Sociology seems interesting though it's the subject I know least about. I love History as a subject, but I'm not the best in exams and I'm wondering if meeting the entry requirement of a grade 6 will be enough that I can keep up and pass the subject at A-level.

I absolutely loved doing philosophy theology and ethics. People I know really enjoyed history as well. Obviously it's content heavy but tbh any a level subject is. These are more on the essay writing side if you prefer that.

i chose three essay subjects, and i love them all. one of mine is philosophy ethics and theology. it’s heavy and i’m not all the way finished but it’s so so enriching. i felt the challenge stepping up from gcse religious studies but with the support of great teachers like mine you’re in safe hands. it’s such a unique subject that spans studies from a massive amount of time, and allows you to write on some really thought provoking topics. thoroughly recommend!!

i do both history and sociology, and being totally honest history is haarrddd and has definetly drove me mad at some points. i think its definitely worth considering if the options offered at your school are something than genuinely interest you, as while i loved my topics at GCSE some of my a level ones weren't the greatest. as for sociology i think its a great option as its very manageable alongside other a levels and is really interesting so id definitely have to recommend that! best of luck!

Hey, I would say that A-Level Philosophy, Theology and Ethics has been a real mix, honestly, it’s been tough at times (that is the same as any subject) , but also really interesting. Some of the topics were super deep and made my brain hurt (in a good way), but they also got me thinking about stuff I’d never really questioned before. It wasn’t always easy juggling all the arguments and essay writing, but I feel like it’s made me think more clearly and argue my points better - and I think a pro of taking three essay based subjects that inherently essay writing skills are the same, so if you see yourself improving in your ability to write essay in one subject - you will also see it improving in the others as they all help each other out. Overall, it’s been intense but so worth so I would definitely have to recommend it, good luck with everything !

I did sociology at both gcse and a-level and loved it.
