how to get a job...

Hi, I really need some advice on getting a job.

I have a lot of experience in various sectors but the most useful one would be working in a restaurant for a year full time. I thought it should be a bit easier this time round in getting a similar job or a retail/cafe position since I have experience but it's not even getting me to the interview stage. I don't know if it's discrimination (from my name) or just a lack of jobs anywhere bc I've applied for a year now. I am open to working in any kind of job in customer service and I've expanded my search from areas within 30 minutes to the whole city of London and I'm not still hearing back, let alone getting to interviews.

I've also tried going in person to local shops, some either say they're not hiring whatsoever, and when I check back a couple of weeks/months later, they're still not hiring even though they tell me to come back at that specific time of the year. Other times, the person I speak to acts enthusiastic and tell me to come with my CV or leave my number and they don't get in contact even when I go in person again to follow up. Some claim they never got my CV even when I hand it directly to the manager repeatedly. Most of the time, they tell me search online.

I know this is a problem for a lot of uni students but I also sell the point that I live in London during term time and when uni closes so I can work throughout the year. I also say clearly I'm looking for something long term and as much hours as possible up to 40 hours even. Lastly, I took off my grades and uni from my CV as a last resort because I got a couple of rejections from places who don't hire students who are full time because they're less reliable. Still nothing.

I'm lost for ideas, I need to save up a lot of money and I can't stay unemployed anymore. (I do odd jobs here and there so I'm not broke entirely but it's not what I need financially). Any ideas of what to do? I see a lot of people my age who don't have the same experience as I do but manage to get the jobs I have tried to get so I'm a bit lost on what I can do.

Have you tried indeed. the application is so easy and if u make an indeed cv there's no hassle of attaching it or anything extra. it also tells u if the employees are responsive and most of them do reply. there's also better jobs than just customer service and they will email u when employees reply and when there r new jobs that relate to what u previously look at.
im only in colly yet but need a job asap and had no luck cuz it preferably needs to be in nhs but... no luck!

Yes I've used indeed in the past but I rarely get responses that way and I was advised to apply directly on company websites for roles. I do a bit of both but depending on the job type. A lot of education/tutoring jobs are posted on indeed which I apply for but for retail/food jobs, applying directly is the only way I get my application viewed and rejected or invited to interview.
I considered applying for a job with a fake name to test out whether my ethnic name is the reason they're rejecting me bc my CV is packed with experiences and looks good enough. I've edited and improved it a lot I don't think that's the issue either.

Does anyone know any unconventional (but legal!!) ways to get to the interview stage at least? There has to be a way people still manage to get jobs while at uni. Anything that could impress a manager so much that they'd want to hire you
