A level chemistry

hi I’m a year 12 studying a level chem. We recently did mocks and got our results back today. The first paper was tough for a lot of people but I didn’t think id lose more than 7-10 marks on it (out of 80) because the most of the questions id already seen before. I got it back and while a few of my friends got 99% or 98% or 97% i only managed an 85%. To give context, this was way better than most of the year since a lot of people got 70s and even 60s but i put so much work in just to see that 6 of the marks i lost were due to silly mistakes. This always happens to me in chemistry. I put the work in but I’m always losing marks that i know I shouldn’t have lost. I don’t know how to avoid these mistakes. And I don’t understand why I can’t do as well as my friends. I don’t know why exams always seem to get to me. I’m confused and I’m scared i wont be able to get my A* in chemistry. Pls help

Hey i dont do chem a level but the only think i can really reccomend is to properly read the question, and use a highlighter and mabye even annotate the question and for your answer, reread it and make sure you are answering what the question is asking you

hi i do chem (year 13) and honestly i don't think you should stress. Getting 85% for paper 1 is really good position to be in year 12. Last year people in my year were getting E's and U's but are now predicted A's. I know its difficult but don't compare yourself to others because it doesn't do you any good. It's good that you're making mistakes now because you've still got time to fix them and remember you can still get an A* by loosing marks (no one is expected to get full marks). I'd recommend analysing your paper and writing a list of all the topics you got wrong and focusing on them.

Tbh chemistry is a lot of memorising so just blurt and do exam questions so that you do not make mistakes
